• On Friday, May 31, the opening event of the Almaco del Guadalquivir nut processing plant, located in the municipality of Palma del Río (Córdoba), took place.

More than 150 guests visited the 3,500m2 processing plant, which has the latest technology and guarantees the proper treatment of nuts with the most demanding process certifications. Then, we toured the 315 hectares that make up the walnut and pecan farm of Cortijo Calonge, whose main objective is sustainability and greater respect for the flora and fauna of the area.

At Finca Calonge, the first pilot plant in Spain of the REDAWN project is located, a European project for the generation of clean electrical energy by installing a turbine in the irrigation pipes, taking advantage of their excess pressure.

During the event there was a presentation of the objectives of the project and its commitment to the environment, its processing plant and its control of the quality of the nuts, “our goal is to offer the best quality among the nuts available in the Spanish market, produced on our farm and processed in our facilities, with a triple objective of HEALTH, TASTE and SUSTAINABILITY” said Borja Murube, CEO of Almaco del Guadalquivir SL
